Today, I got a corset! It's an underbust with 24 (i think) spiral steel bones, and I will tell the where and how much once I've given it a test run etc, but here she is..with my pjs..cos thats totally the sexiest way to wear corsets yeah?

Not laced as tight as It can, as I am currently just breaking it in. But....love.

Corsets need breaking in so they can with stand the huge amounts of tension tightlacing puts on the fabric and stitching, so for a couple of hours morning and night I put on the corset without lacing it as tight as I can, just to allow it to form to my body etc and after a few weeks of this, I will start lacing it in earnest! I'm very excited!

Christ. I almost forgot about you guys! Uhh, between exams, and then killing myself with beer after my exams, and then going to stoke to see Moz, and manchester to see my sister, and im off to france in a week and blarrggg...blogging has taken a back seat so far back its in the boot!

Summer is a time of the year I just..dont get dressed up, and dont do my face, and dont..do...anything. So what can I blog about?

Weeellll, I'm starting corset training soon :O Which is very exciting. Why I am doing this? Well, I have always loved the look of corsets, from just "fashion corsets" to extreme tightlacing...I love it!

But I have never felt confident that I knew enough, that I'd grown enough, or that I could afford a good quality corset. But yesterday I jumped into the deep end, due to a sale where a £100+ tightlacing corset was down to £20...I couldn't turn that down!

So I will keep you all updated on the whole process I think! Thats something to blog about I guess.

Ugh, I wish i had more to show you from my birthday, but I was a mess! Any photos have been burned for the protection of my dignity :D But I thought I'd show you a few of my gifties, and stuff.

This is just my NOTD, thought I'd show it whilst I was here! It's the 17 crackle polish over barry m deep purple.

This is a ring my friend Katie got me. I love it. I am a ring person, I aspire to be like Phoebe from friends with like a million rings on my fingers and toes, the chunkier the better! <3

Moustache Cup? I think so. The love of my life, my mate Amy, got me this glass. I am gonna christen it tonight with martini and lemonade...ever the classy bird!
And my mummy got me two new charms for my Thomas Sabo charm braclet, firstly this heart with a crown. It reminded her of my Vivienne Westwood heart crown jewelery so she got it for me! It's so shiny and heavy :3 love it.
Second charm..it's a freaking mallard. This might be something you don't know about me...but I really freaking love birds, water fowl especially. I bore the shit out of my mates with my intense bird watcher knowledge. This duck tickles me!

Finally. I got the most amazing card from a friend from back home. I wasn't expecting a card, so I got this printed envelope in the post and I was all...wut? Until i saw this little thing printed in the corner..
"Frankly Mr Shankly" and "Vicar in a tutu" are Smiths Songs, and as soon as I read it I knew this card was gonna be from SJ. She had moonpig make a Morrissey card! I could have actually died.

Again, Unhappy birthday Is a Moz song. And...he's smiling at a turkey. I am in love. And then to top it off, inside was a beautiful birthday message...

More Moz lyrics, this time telling me no one meant how nice they were on my birthday the day before. Genius frankly.

So yeah.

I had an ace 21st from what I remember...I went out the night before so actually spent the bulk of my 21st vomiting, then eating (I ate so much! Bacon cheeseburger and fries, then a whole tub of ben and jerries, then a chicken korma...lush)

Red Hair

I have red hair. Not naturally mind, but I have had every red colour under the sun from dark dark red browns, to my current:

It's safe to say I love having red hair. So I think I will tell you everything I know about red hair, getting it, keeping it, and loving it. I am not a professional, I have no formal training in hair, and I am very reckless. If you intend on doing something like this to yourself, do a bit of research, do stand tests, and be careful! I think it's important to "know your hair" when you dye it a lot, but I feel you won't know it till you've been messing with it for a while..it's a hairy catch-22.

First of all, products. To dye your hair as red as mine is in the image above, you need to bleach your hair unless it's blonde already. I use 40 vol bleach, as I am a maniac. I suggest maybe starting with a lower volume if you are unsure of yourself, or what your hair can take. Likewise to get it this red, I don't feel like high-street box dyes like XXL really cut it. I mean they have fab colours, but for weird hair colours, www.beeunique.co.uk is the place to go!

I detailed my dying process here, so I won't go into that now, but feel free to check it out. I will however talk about bleaching for a moment.

Bleaching your hair is scary if you've never done it before. I am not normally a strand test person, but with bleach I think it's important, especially if you've never done it before. I usually just grab a bit of hair from the nape of my neck area of hairline and bleach it to see what time frame I'm looking at. A few tips:

Don't wash your hair immediately before bleaching.
Section your hair, and paint the bleach on with a tint brush, staying a few centimeters away from the root
Once all the lengths are done go back and do the roots. This is because the hair closest to your scalp is warmed by your head, so the bleach works faster.
Bleach will not make your hair white. If white, or white blonde is your goal, take the bleach off when your hair is a pale yellow and tone. If you just need pale hair to dye over, a gingery blonde colour will do.
Don't leave bleach on for over an hour.
If you're dyeing straight away afterwards, don't condition your hair until after that, otherwise, condition the heck out of it!

I usually bleach my hair down to a stawberry blonde. Although I am always patchy with it, if you think you will be too, get a friend to help, especially if you are dying it a light colour after bleaching or leaving it blonde. Then dye it however you see fit.

Now you have red hair, or any colour hair, you need to take care of it! Especially if you bleached it, it is likely to need a bit of TLC.

"But hair is dead!" I hear you cry. This is true, but it can still be damaged, and it can still be kept in good nick, just like a piece of taxidermy. I try to take pretty good care of my hair because I abuse it, does that make sense? I always equate my hair to violent domestic situations (I think I've referred to it as an abused child acting out and its parents being all "y u no follow my orders") and today is no different...I'd say I treat my hair like an abusive spouse slapping you around, they buying you flowers the diamonds the next day. I lavish expensive conditioners and serums on my hair, just to turn around and bleach it to death and straighten it etc etc.

At the moment, I use 5 conditioning products on my hair. Thats a bit much I know. I disgust myself. Let me tell you how it goes down.

I use Herbal Essences conditioner (and don't shampoo often btw), and then maybe a more intensive one if I feel the need (currently have two on the go, a James Brown one, and Osmo..I'll review if I ever form an opinion). Then after my hair has dried a bit, I whack on Redken anti-snap and Charles Worthington hair healer, maybe followed by another James brown leave in type thing. A lot, I know, but thats why people touch my hair and are mystified by how soft it is when I tell them how often I bleach and dye it.

Other excellent and affordable conditioners I've used are: Boots essentials Henna and horse chestnut and Naked intensive hair rescue. I've heard it said that Joico k-pak is the thing to get, but I've never tried it...if I ever have money I'll get it!

Regarding specific colour shampoos/conditioners: I don't like that. Firstly my red dyes are semi permanent dyes that stain, so I don't really think they do anything. In fact I found some conditioners made for colored hair made my colour wash out more than non colour specific ones.

My early birthday present to myself!

Do you ever wake up and think, god I wish a stranger would poke a needle through one of my body parts? No? Just me?

Well it's not just me, haha. A week or two ago, I was minding my own business revising (in the bar, sshh) and a few friends came up like "dude wanna go get our shit pierced?" and I was like "totally man, rad!" apart from none of those words were used in that order due to our not being complete pricks. So I got my ear pierced!

I expected it to hurt or swell or something, but it was a complete non-paininthearse and now I feel compelled to get another wee little ring above this one. It was done at Urban Piercings in Reading, and it was a pleasure to be mutilated by them! It was done with a needle, the studio was lovely and clean, and the piercers lovely folk! I knew I wanted the rim pierced, but I didn't know where precisely, so the piercer used her own initiative to figure out where it would sit best with my ear shape etc, and I love it!

I know I have been mega AWOL of late. I have 9 exams. Shoot me. No please put me out my misery. I have 5 left. But after my last exam, I decided to treat myself. Firstly, the new Morrissey best of. This pains me, and let me tell you for why...

Morrissey recently released a statement mostly to apologize for a interview were he acted like himself, as as such, like a bit of a miserable git. But he made a point to see he doesn't think this best of will reach a place in the charts because HMV and EMI were having some issues and the CD didn't hit the shelves till a week after the release date. No Morrissey. This won't place in the chart because everyone who cares about your music will already own all these songs..on the albums they were on, and maybe several of the billion other best of's you've made. So why did I buy this when I own all the songs anyway? 'Cause I am a whore for the Moz.

Then I had a right let down at H&M. Well, not a let down, but a -sigh- moment. I had to place an order on H&M online because I couldn't find several of the things I wanted in store...and then I went in on friday and there was EVERYTHING i wanted on the shelves. Let down. Also however, there was the sex pistols top I wanted when i saw it in MK and didn't but it like a fool.

Wouldn't wear it like this btw, I just threw it on over what I was already wearing. But it's a baggy cropped top...I will be taking some scissors to it to make it off the shoulder. I love it.

Then superdrug beckoned, and I only picked up two thinks, a GOSH creme brush in peach rush, and the barry m crackle paint in white

This is a random mini blog (very hungover..or judging on how funny I am finding everything...still drunk) to talk about how excellent asos is. Everyone knows they are ace but todays experience made me love them forever.

I emailed them saying a ring I bought broke within a day and literally 10 minutes later they replied saying they were sorry it was faulty and they would refund it straight away.

It makes me super happy that there is a place in this world which is that customer orientated. Share your awesome asos stories

Something else that makes me feel yay is selling on ebay! I put a bunch of stuff up, of old clothes I bought and then never wore, all kinda emo or gothic lolita style stuff, and I made a bit of cash, not exactly loads, and no where near what I bought the items for, but ya know, if you're never gonna wear a thing again, getting a tenner for it is better than throwing it away or keeping it forever for no reason. I strongly suggest looking into ebay to get rid of your stuff! It's ace!

Downsizing!

No way! I here you cry! Why would you want to downsize? Well I'm not actually getting rid of any of my makeup per say, just decided what to take to uni and what I can leave at home. I am taking packing lightly seriously this term, as it's a short term, and It's sunny so I hope to be not piling on the slap often, and also I have to be back on tuesday, and my parents can't drive down till Saturday so I'm getting a train down to the sunny south with just enough stuff to last for a week, and my stuff is following me later on, and I am suspicious my parents would refuse to bring my obscene slap collection.

By the by, my makeup lives like this:

apologies for the blur, my camera is being a dick. and the sellotape is remnants from its last car journey, sozzles.

However, I managed to work it down to this:

Again blurripants, but you can see, one little box, and then my bag which I will be taking down in my bag on the train, so thats just what I'll need for a few days. If you would like a more in depth view as to what I consider my essentials in the makeup bag, or the box, or both, let me know. But you can see some mac, some elf, some fyrinnae lip paints, some sleek and barry m etc etc.

I am pretty pleased with myself!

And I did the same with nail varnishes, as my "drawer of shame" has become a bit of a laughing stock at uni, so this is the box of nail varnish I normally take with me:

And thats what I ended up with, I feel I was pretty frugal! Mostly pastels and brights with a few darker colours for nights and almost exclusively barry m. *If you'd like to know what I took, or what any of the colours below are, let me know.

Today's outfit is this. Pretty much entirely from new look actually...didn't notice that until I was just about to type "top..new look..shorts..new look.."

My mum hates this blouse, which is proof she is a fool. I'll tell you what though..it makes me feel like meatloaf...

And I LIKE THAT. I freaking love meatloaf, and am proud to be channeling him sartorially. I wish all my outfits were meatloaf based frankly.

Also say hello to my newest hair colour, I just keep doing it redder and redder...at this stage children literally stop and stare in the street, often yelling "MUMMY WHY DOES THAT LADY HAVE RED HAIR?!" if they aren't rendered totally speechless. The ever gorgeous Amber over at Shoeper Woman (the only and only real shoeper woman mind) has had another fun idea, that is Shoesday, where we shoe what we're wearing on our feet..on tuesday, and I figured I'd get stuck in!

Just some black quilted flats. Been "running errands today" so nothing exciting. I think these were from new look last autumn. Regrettably next Shoesday is likely to be just as boring as my Tuesday next week consists of a mile walk to the nearest bus stop, a half hour bus journey, a jaunt to the station by foot, a cross country train, a tube halfway across London, a second cross country train, then finally a taxi (cos by this stage I will have had all I can take of public transport). All before 1pm. Half of this journey will be accompanied by weeping. Then if I have any money left I will be getting very drunk.

James Brown Detangle Leave in Conditioner.

So it's far to say I am easily manipulated. Great British Hairdresser is one of my favourite things on British television at the moment, and if you don't watch it you should! It is basically a hairdressing competition, judged by celebrity stylist James Brown..it is a beautiful combination of hairspray and bitchiness. So a few weeks ago I was at boots, and I saw the James Brown haircare line just near the till, and I was swayed by a couple of items, firstly the hairspray, which I hate, so won't talk much about, but it was awfully sticky and had bad hold, let down! The second thing, was also a let down...or so I thought!

James Brown Detangling leave-in conditioner. I hated this. As you would expect you spray it into wet hair and expect it to leave your hair when dry all conditioned and lovely. I found it left my hair sticky and not feeling any softer or easier to comb through or anything. I was dismayed, I wanted to love this as I love James Brown, but it just didn't do anything for me.

But lo! Something occurred! An hour or so ago I decided to comb my hair, which is not the most common thing for me to do, and I was sort of distraught by my hair's ends..having just had an inch or so chops off, I was annoyed that my ends felt crisp and frankly..burnt? Strawtastic basically. And on a whim I just squirted some of this leave in conditioner into my palms, and smoothed it over my ends and lo and behold, they sucked it all up like a thirsty dog. No sticky residue, no more crispy ends, just soft shiny hair that smells delish! I have no idea why this happened, or if it will work for other people, but I definitely feel, for me, this stuff is great..just not exactly for how it says it should be used.

Obviously for people who's hair isn't a pile of straw from years of abuse, probably not a good idea to put this on dry hair, but if you have crispy rubbish hair like moi, maybe have a cheeky squirt of this in boots and smooth it onto your ends and see what you think, and maybe let me know, as I think this stuff is bangin'! Note: pretty sure this is the same thing as his Moisture Locking Leave-In Conditioner just with a different name/packaging...as the blurb is basically the same and soa re the ingrediants..don't quote me on that though

Does anyone else feel summer is here? Yesterday I spent an extended period of time sitting outside the pub with a pint or three, which to me spells summer! Well it's how I intend on spending the rest of my summer at least! It just sucks that until June I am a revise-a-matic 3000. Or I should be, but frankly, I don't give a shit about cells. Is that bad? I am gonna finish this post up and go lie in the sun with a book about cells as I feel guilty for saying I don't give a shit about the building blocks of all life on this planet.So summer is here, and I want to here about your plans, and your summer essentials! I wanna get a little dialog going, ya dig?

So my summer essentials this year are going to be:

1) Wedges, which I details in a different post. Wedges are the ultimate summer shoe; comfy, but tall..which is how I like everything in my life ;)

2) Denim shorts! I eschewed the denim short for a long time, being a larger than average woman in the thigh and arse department, I thought I'd look like lamb dressed as fat (that was a play of mutton dressed as lamb and probably fell flat, but it made me laugh, sheesh everyones a critic). However, I have changed my tune. I Love my denim shorts! Really short ones get leggings under them, which makes them much more 80's/90's which is much more me!

3) Dove summer glow. It's not all the time you can find an idiot proof false tan, although the gradual ones are your best bet! I need an idiot proof everything. Dove summer glow is my favourite, and I will definitely be repurchasing it asap, as I am almost out.

4) 'Nuff said.

Now I won't be posting much for a while as I am really going to get my arse into gear and do some studying, like a good little Student (although I have a wee asos haul to show uou soon!). Bad times. Laters chickens

False nails? My opinions...

I think I mentioned a while back that I was gonna dip my toes into the world of false toe nails, and yesterday I followed through! I also got some false finger nails at the same time so I will give you my opinion on both. This post will include a picture of my feet, and even I am repulsed by that so don't read on if you're footaphobic....could be worse, it would be a picture pre-false nail..eugh.So I bought Nailene french finish in medium length for my fingers, and Fing'rs Dazzle toez for my toes. I will start with the fingers!

They are long. If this is medium I hate to thing how difficult it would be to function in long.

Ok I painted over them. French manicure is just not me. Sorry the paintjob is messy, I am a slob. So, these don't look long, but they are. I can barely type. Application was messy, I don't know if it is just me but I did end up gluing my hands together :/ But they don't look false at all to me, which is ace. I would definitely try these again, but shorter, cos right now I am just begging for these to fall off!

Now onto the main event...toes!

I hate feet. And mankey toenails make them worse..and my toenails give the word mankey a bad name :/ I might chew them :| But for summer, you want your feet to be looking ace, you want to put your best foot forward if you will :D

Application was a lot easier then for fingers, and there is plenty of variation in sizes, as you can see I could find ones to fit my weirdly large big toes and my frankly pointless little toes (i dont think they even have bones in them) and some of them will need to be filed down a bit. They come with two application methods, the glue for 10 days ish, and the stickers for a shorter term application, which is ace. I think I might live in these over the summer!

I bought both these packs from boots for about £7, but I know they can be found cheaper else where.

17 crackle top coat

Looks like everyone is jumping on the crackle bandwagon, and I am not totally against this! When I was looking for Barry M's 3 new colour crackles, I chanced upon 17s newest one! It is a..metallic...silvery gold? Goldy silver? Whichever it is I love it!

Kyo Sohma EOTD

Todays eotd was inspired by my favourite character from the manga Fruits Basket; Kyo Sohma. He is possessed by the spirit of the cat from the zodiac (cat? in the zodiac? what? apparently there is a story where there is a cat in the zodiac backstory), and when hugged by a female he transforms into a cat...an orange cat. and *spoiler alert* He also has a "true form" which emerges if his red and white juzu beads are removed.

Physically couldn't get a photo of this with my eye shut. It is orange. Orange for the cat, and then red and white liner to represent his juzu beads. There is some darker browny orange in the crease which you cant see. The white is a little sloppy..I just can't do it properly..but I'll keep on trucking! I'm pretty pleased in general about this, I am glad to have finally used the orange in the circus palatte! Now I am off to the optician and he'll have to deal with all the muck on my face mwhaha :D

In a haul t'other day I showed you this "dress" and said it looked better on and certainly wasn't a dress. In my opinion, it needs shorts!

It might be ok if you wear it with leggings and are the kinda girl who likes people to be able to see their vagina. But with shorts and heels this is a fine outfit for chilling with a jug of pimms!

DIY T-shirt.

Come with me now on a journey through time and space.

To the world, of the DIY T-shirt to tank top.

So I mentioned in a haul the other day that I bought a t-shirt for doing a sneaky bit of DIY action on it. So here is the backstory:

I'm very much into music, and I enjoy a good band shirt, as it's nice to be accosted by people with a similar interest/taste as you for a sneaky bit of music nerdery, amirite? But band shirts are always the same shape, a high necked, baggy sleeved box, and call me a crazy but I don't think liking music means you have to hide your bodacious body (read: I like to show off my chest), and high necked shirts give me the heebie jeebies..they just feel wrong. So up until now I have just bought previously reconstructed shirts, but recently, in true have-a-go spirit I though "hey..I could do that". Enter The Cure Mens Large t-shirt

Thems the tools of the trade.

You will be needing:

T-shirt

Ruler

Something to mark the shirt (chalk on black, pencil on lighter colours)

Material Scissors

Step 1

Cut off the seams, so about an inch of the sleeves and neck (and the bottom too if you want, I didn't though). You might want to be neater than me if these things bother you, but grungey is what I am aiming for so I didn't bother faffing.

Step 2

Next we mark off where we will be cutting. And I realized you have no idea where I am actually going with this do you? Oh well, all will be revealed. Basically the effect we are going for is all ripped up and knotted at the back. So you want to do a cut right up the back, so try and get it central, hence the ruler! My horizontal lines are all a ruler width apart, which looks big but they get stretched and skinnier, also you can always make them thinner if needed, but you can't make them any thicker. How far the horizontal cuts extend towards the edges of the shirt is down to your discretion, but try not to go all the way up to the neck line.

Step 3

Start cutting! Seriously the cutting doesn't need to be neat, as you will see in a second, when you stretch it, the edges will roll up. So once you're all cut, stretch each strip and it will look a bit like this:

Step 4

Once stretched you are ready to start knotting. This is where your once boxy shirt becomes more fitted to your body, so if you want it loose in one place, tie loosly, and if you want it tighter, tie it up tighter. Simples. Infact the best way to do it would be to wear it, and get a useful friend of family member to tie it on you, that way you know it'll be fitted in the right places.

If you want you can tie several strips up in one knot, you can basically get whacky. Once you're done it'll look like the above.

Step 5

At this stage you'll want to put it on, if you don't have it on already, and see how you feel about the rest of it, if the neckline is ok, how the arms look etc. I am changing the arms on mine, as they are huge and I think I want this to be a tank top.

Step 6

Here I chopped off the sleeves as close to the seam (on the sleeve side) as possible, but there are lots of things you can do, give it a quick youtube search and there are some videos showing some really cool intricate things you can do. I chose simply to take a little bit of material that I cut off the sleeve to tie the sleeves up like so:

And we're done! Ready to witness the fitness? As I was too sleepy to figure out my self timer, you get a cheeky mirror shot taken in my downstairs bathroom..so soz for the toilet

I haven't tied mine tight enough as I need someone to help me, but there we have it! I always wear a contrasting vest top underneath my slashed tops as no one needs to see my back fat :D

But yeah...that is my simple guide to ruining perfectly good clothes :D

I am a naughty otter. I was in Milton Keynes yesterday, in the Midsummer Place Shopping Centre, and it blew my mind. Ever been there? It's huge, I don't think I've ever been in a shopping centre that takes an hour to walk from one side to the other ignoring the shops. I could have wept. Anywho, once I was finished weeping in joy over the shops, I blew what was left of my overdraft on a few, frankly necessary items. Although there I was in a shopping centre with all these amazing shops, I still kinda stuck to my normal shops :( Oh well.

£15? Love. This little beauty will be part of a DIY project, which I might bring you all along on. This shop is a marvel if you enjoy band shirts. When I saw it I felt a gravitational pull and it required all my self restraint not to buy a million and 1 shirts. But I've wanted a Cure shirt for a while so I got this one for operation slut-up-a-mans-shirt. Pulp have a website if you would like to visit it, there shirts are reasonably priced and really high quality as they are official merchandise (as far as I'm aware). They have found a fan in me!

H&M

I deliberated over this little baby for some time. I am hugely into looking a bit punk and oi! etc and for £7 no matter how much I tried to think myself out of it I needed this in my life. I've been wearing this with denim short shorts, doc martens and an army jacket and looking a bit like a skinhead and totally loving that. Mwhaha. Side note, H&M have some really dainty spaghetti strap camis with lace detailing on the neck for £3 ish. They are something I've been after for about a year, and I think they might be worth everyone looking at as great basics for this summer!

New look

Told you I needed these shoes! I said my piece about these babies the other day. I want to marry them.

This photo does it no justice, you'll see it in an outfit of the day and it'll look better I promise. I bought this as a dress, but it is a bit too short, but over denim shorts I love the look. It clinches in at the waist, and actually comes with a belt to aid that, but the belt was cheap (I mean it was all cheap but the belt LOOKED cheap) so I will be buying a belt to match my new orange shoes :D. About £13, which is ace. The website says this is a "50s tunic" which I can sort of picture in my minds eye...50's women at the beach? Whatevs. I enjoy it hugely, which is odd for me; liking something so high cut on the neck!

This is another thing I've wanted for a time, a sheer pussybow blouse in a neutral colour. I have no idea what my plans are with this...again, shorts. I have become a shorts whore since I bought those denim babies for my cowboy thing. £16 I think.

And finally! Some cheap (£3) and cheerful sunnies. I wear glasses, so I never really had the opportunity to wear sunglasses but now I wear contacts often, I thought I'd give them a bash...and it was impossible to find a shape to suit my face! I thought I'd be ok as I wear glasses so I am used to ya know..having something obscure my face and knowing what works and what doesn't but its a whole different ball game with shades isn't it. Hiss. But these are fun, and make me look like an insect :D Providing I have enough volume in my hair I can make these beasts work.

I wanted to Review what I've been using on my face of late for some time, but I really can't. Gah let me explain.

Since Christmas I have been using the Superdrug Tea Tree foaming cleanser and exfoliator. They are cheap as chips, and often on deals (so today you could get them both for £3.99) which is ace as they last forever as well, I am half way through the foaming cleanser and almost finished the exfoliator after 3 months. Good value for money I'd say.

The issue now is, how do I gauge how well it worked? Is it unfair to test anything coupled with how I have been behaving lately. Surefire ways to fuck your skin up: drink lots of booze, forget to wash your makeup off, never sleep.

I will say, I expected my skin to look worse, considering how the rest of my body was a wreck for some time. I have been having a little breakout in the chin area, but it's nothing hideous.

So the some of this review is: Either my skin can resist being treated like shit and a rubbish cleanser, or this cleanser has kept my skin looking human whilst the rest of my body freaks out and end up in hospital.

I leave that to your discretion .

Summer Shoes

If there is one thing people should know about life as a student, it is that the summer term, is

madness. A month or so of exams following by that month..that glorious glorious month. June. No exams, no lectures, just...nothing. This is mostly experienced through the haze of Pimms. So I have been thinking about my summer shoes...I don't have the feet or legs for sandals or flipflops, wedges are my weapon of choice!

I am going to show you a little selection of my picks for wedges that you can pick up now!

Classic nautical-esque wedges here with a straw wedge and striped uppers from H&M for £24.99. I already own a pair of blue and white striped wedges, but by gum I want these ones as well!

I might have well have called this post "Shoes to make you weep". These glorious 100% leather wedges from Topshop are £60 and I want to marry them

Couldn't you just die? I think I just did. £69.99 from River Island. Maybe not the most practical of shoes, but wouldn't you look ace in these with a pair of high waisted shorts, and a fringed camel waistcoat? Really rocking the 70's look.

These two beauties are from New Look so cost a cool £19.99 each. Barginous! Which would you get? I'm leaning towards both :D I think they are perfect for a gentle stroll to the bar for a Pimms on the lawn. They also work well for these seasons bright colours and colour blocking trends.

Now although it's been baking for a few days, it's not summer yet, no matter what the sunburn on my shoulder (yeah just one of them) says, so there is still time to do some maintenance before summer! I will be giving my feet some serious TLC, and I might have to get some sort of false toe nails as no matter how much I try, I fuck my feet up in new and exciting ways on a daily basis :D

I suck at life

I really do suck at life so very bad. I just got home for easter holiday after the craziest couple of weeks of working hard, and partying harder and the results being extreme illness (my drinking buddy gave herself a kidney infection from the way we were living by the end of the term), and I have been doing nothing but drawing up my dissections in the day and drinking beer at night. I am a bad human. I wish more bloggers/vloggers admitted that they flake on blogging as they lead hideously debauched lives!

Anywho, I intend on doing a lot of EOTDs and OOTDs over the next few weeks, as I will be doing literally anything to avoid revising fucking insects (thats just anger not me saying i fuck insects...srsly)

So sorry for being a douche, I'll see you soon!

Things I've learnt this term

* You are only sad for as long as you want to be, happiness doesn't come to you magically, you have to go to it.

* Once you've decided you're ready to get over something, you'll realise you're already over it.

* A friend who'll take you to A&E have you pissing yourself laughing while you're there in agony is clearly an awesome human.

* When you're open to new experiences, and meeting new people, you don't have to be the skinniest or prettiest girl in the room to be the centre of the party.

* All ills, stresses, and annoyances are cured by a pint of cider in the sun with people you love. This point will be a huge point next term I can tell thee now.

* Being challanged to dress in a redonk way (see previous post) for a week can really liven you up if you're stuck in a fashion rut

* No matter how ace you look at the beginning of a night you will spend the next day weeping over facebook photos of how awful you looked come 2am. Embrace your inner hideous lizard woman.

* Sometimes it's ok to have a teeny dance party for one in your bedroom.

* "The Question isn't who's going to let me; It's who is going to stop me"

* "Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

Everyone knows the best way to procrastinate from Uni work is tidying, and everyone knows cleanliness is next to godliness....therefore procrastination is a beautiful, nay spiritual, nay religious, thing to do.

* Negative reinforcement works. Never dissect hungover unless you want to associate whatever you're dissecting with imminent vomit and a pounding faceache. I'll never look a lamprey in the eye again.

* Miss a night of sleep and your mood goes: tired-->exhausted-->whiney-->FUCKING MENTAL --> weepy. The longer you can prolong the near psychotic stage of tiredness, the better. I recently told a lecturer of mine that I would happily eat a rhino and a puffin. Don't ask.

* Other than the aforementioned umbrella shame, don't regret what you've done..just learn and move on.

Some girls are bigger than others - OOTD

I am not the sort of girl who plans an outfit in advance. Well maybe I'll plan a going out in the evening outfit during the day, but I never plan a daytime outfit anywhere earlier than, as I am putting it on. Today was different...todays outfit imagined it's self into my head yesterday...actually the outfit yesterday was the same tights put in purple, and a sex pistols baggy t-shirt, but the look is the same...

Excuse my turn ups being uneven...I shall rectify this! And do my docs up more, this photo was just taken to test the outfit out to see if I could actually leave my room looking like this...I will! I have 2 hours of lectures this morning and then "lunch" plans at the pub.

This outfit is inspired by the 90's, as I gave myself a ridiculous 90's hair style last night and was challenged to spend all week recreating the era, hence why the pistols shirt got swapped out. Also added a plaid shirt for when I need to go outside, it's nippy here today..nippy but sunny...a lame combination.

Today, after having finished what is frankly a beautiful essay on the welfare concerns of fish farming Atlantic Salmon, I celebrated by using my much ignored Sleek Circus Palette. I rarely touch it as it's very bright, and mostly matte, which aren't really my things when it comes to my eyeballs.

So it was just one of those moments where you stand in front of all your makeup and just faff around with no idea where it's going to go...I ended up with this train wreck

I like the colours. I was just going to do yellow and purple, as it's my Uni colours, but I was seduced my orange and a bit of green. I think it would have been neater if I hadn't been interrupted half way through to help someone do some genetics work...so I lost my train of makeup thought into the far less fun meiosis train of thought.

I was hoping yellow and orange might bring out my eye colour, but old droopy lids means you can't actually see the yellow..I should start experimenting with a higher crease perhaps. #nobodycares

All colours from sleek Circus Pallete, eyeliner collection 2000 liquid liner and mascara combo far too clumpy for anyone to want to know what it is.

So I tried my hand (pun intended) at water marbling again. And it's still as messy as I remember. And as hit or miss as I remember, case in point:

Some good, some bad, some make me weep.

White base, with a matte black (Diamond Cosmetics) a shimmering red (Nails Inc) and a Silver (Accesorize) marbled onto it. My fav is the middle finger on my left hand (top image) but all the rest on that hand suck, where as all of the right hand worked ok but aren't as cool. whatevz.

I have been MIA for a good reason

So I've been gone for a while, but I have a good reason. I have the plague. Weeeeell not quite, but I have a skin infection called Cellulitis or something to that effect. So I thought I had the flu for ages but then when my leg started to swell and get a rash all over it, I moseyed on to hospital and got diagnosed with the plague! I cannot actually walk, the infection has hijacked my lymphatic system in my leg and crippled me...So I haven't eaten in days, apart from what people bring me, which is essentially crisps and chips, cos we iz students innit. I am also suffering from one of those fevers that have you sweating one minute and shivering like crazy the next, so I am feeling very sorry for myself, and barely washing let alone thinking about anything pretty for le blog.

So once I can walk again, I am going to go shopping and actually bother with makeup so I will be updating mucho.

I hope you are all doing better than me :3

Review: Crest 3D whitestripes Advance Seal

So, crest 3D whitestries advance seal. First things first, yes they are not the easiest to get hold of in the UK due to the Peroxide concentration I believe. So these I got from Ebay, from the USA. The seller is called jlkdirect and 14 strips cost me £20.53

My teeth when I started where this colour:

Kind of...the lighting wasn't great, but my teeth were embarrassing! I bought these after seeing a photo of a night out where my teeth looked horrid. I am an occasional smoker, and heavy

tea/coffee/red wine drinker, to fill you in on how shit my teeth are! This picture is gross, and it makes my teeth look really fucked up, yay for perpetuating stereotypes of icky British teeth!

First Impressions:I am writing this with the strips in for the first time and I am in a bit of a pickle. I don't know what to do with my mouth? If I leave my mouth open I feel more comfortable, but then my mouth starts to fill with saliva and that's unpleasant and then I have to swallow, and it kinda tastes weird. Not unpleasant, but strange. I am sure I will get used to it over the 14 days, but I does weird me out...nothing major. That being said, I don't think they're going anywhere, like I heard the old ones did; slipping and sliding all over your mouth. So I could live with

this...in fact even over the few minutes I've been writing this I've gotten so very used to it.

4 days into trial:

I am experiencing some sensitivity, like....big style. It feels fine whilst the s

trips are on, but once removed, for like an hour or two it's painful. It's not agonising keeping me awake type pain, it's just...I'm very aware of my own teeth type pain. Once the pain goes away it's no longer sentitive in the way that I couldn't drink a cold drink, so it's not on going sensitivity.

Last time I did it, which was about a week ago, was my 6th strip, and the pain was too much. I had to take the strips off early as I suddenly got this extreme pain in one of my teeth, and I haven't used them since, as the pain was bad. I will use them again though, and I shall explain that in a second.

This is how my teeth looked today, after using the strips 6 times, not all in a row, but with gaps between the last 3.

You might not think that is very white, but for me there has been a huge change! I never went into this wanting a Hollywood white smile, they look creepy to be frank. But I wanted to see a picture of myself smiling and not recoil in horror.

So would I use this again?

Short answer is Yes.

The pain was bad, but it was fleeting, and whilst I would certainly not use these for the full 14 days day after day after day, the next time my teeth are looking a bit yellow, I will whack these on for a day or two.

Should you use this?

I would not at all encourage people to use anything that causes pain and may or may not be certified safe in this country :D I would not encourage you to use this if you already have sensitive teeth as it may be like...agonising. However they do work. So if you won't blame me if it makes you weep in anguish, check 'em out!

So yay for me. And my teefs.

Cowboy Haul

I popped into town today for a very important reason: I need to be a cowboy. It's a good friends birthday tomorrow and he is having us all dress like cowboys and Indians and head off to our normal Thursday night spot. Now you will see the full outfit tomorrow once I have acquired the boots! They are waiting for me at a pub (story behind that: ran into a friend in town, chatting cos we haven't seen each other in a year, mentioned party and how I'm looking for cowboy boots, she said I could borrow hers and she dropped them off at the pub and I'll pick them up tomorrow).

But I picked up a few other items for to show you!

This bag is not necessarily cowboy-y...but I needed a black going out type bag, as my usual taupe-y purple number just didn't fit the bill for cowboys, and I saw this in Primark and figured it would do the trick! And it was only £6

This isn't pure cowboy either, this is just cause I needed a new purse as I'm fed up of my moomins coin purse ripping notes up in it's zip. £4 from primark

Wish I could get a decent photo of this, but you can kinda get the gist...It's just a tan tank top, but it has a cowgirl on it! I saw it in primark and just knew it had to be mine. This will be worn under a plaid shirt so not much of it will be on show, but it's the thought that counts! £3

Oh yeah! My guns and badge! Poundland baby! There is a real chance I will have these removed from me when I enter the club, but it'll be worth it to look the part for the pre-drinks

Ohhh the short shorts! This was a risky choice for me! I was going to wear a denim skirt, but I must have left mine at home and I couldn't bring myself to buy one when I have a perfectly good one at home I rarely wear....so I found these shorts in new look for £19.99, and I tried them on with leggings underneath which will likely be how I rock them tomorrow, and they looked quite nice! I am suspicious that new look angle their mirrors to make you look thinner as I couldn't believe I didn't look like some horrid monster and instead looked like an "aerodynamically curvaceous" girl with a nice bum. We shall see...if I feel fat I'll have to wear huge heels rather than the cowboy boots.

So yes...that is my pre-cowboy haul. What you don't see are the boots, the plaid shirt and my hair in a big red plait like Jessie from Toystory! (Actually in two big red fishtail braids like...me..from..here)

So err..Yay!

Review: No7 Exquisite Curl Mascara

I am very found of my other No7 mascaras, so I jumped on the chance to have a go on this new one Exquisite Curl. Normally the curling ability of a mascara is of no concern to me- I ha

ve quite naturally curled lashes and so I care more about volumising than curling. Anywho.

This is the mascara, lounging sexually on my bed, the bottle is all curvy, and I find that very aesthetically pleasing personally. I wish I had a photo of how pretty the packaging it come it was, but I don't really think that matters...it was cute though!

The wand itself is one of those you tend to find in mascaras designed to aid the curl:

A curved wand, with very dense almost fluffy looking bristles. Now onto the good bit!

Crikey! It certainly does curl doesn't it! It might be more obvious in this little picture:

Yeah, there is some curlage here! Naked eye on the left obviously. My eyelashes are quite clearly pointing upwards rather than towards the camera, which is why they look so much longer! Don't let that trick you into thinking it's hugely lengthening! It is however very defining with one coat, but then gets a bit more clumpy with a second coat, not dissimilar to Avon supershock.

It is however quite wet. Which might be all right for some people but I am a messy pup at the best of times, and I have long enough lashes that I get mascara all over my brow bone if I'm not careful, and this was no different. Maybe once it's dried out a little bit I'll like it that bit more.

Despite it being a bit too wet, I like this a lot! In comparison to the only other spoon shaped wand mascara I have, the Falsies I think it did more for my lashes! Really need to put it on my other eye before I go outside now!

Fish Pedicure!

So I had a fish pedicure on saturday, and I want to share my experience with you!

Incase you're unaware, a fish pedicure is a foot treatment that involves placing the feet into a tank filled with small fish called garra rufa. They nibble away at the dead skin on your feet. It is very odd. Despite all the various health concerns surrounding it, I have always wanted to try and it, and so when I saw it being offered in the Arndale Centre, Manchester, I convinced my sister to do it with me!

First they have you fill in a form about your medical history, which I don't think they even read but I guess they were just covering their arses. Next your feet are washed in a separate foot spa type thing, and then in the tank they go! Horrid! I have never been so uncomfortable in public before! They swim between your toes, I could have been sick. I'm being a bit dramatic, after a minute or two I stopped freaking out, relaxed, and it was a really pleasant relaxing sensation! My sister felt oppositely, she enjoyed it at first but after a while it made her feel a bit uneasy.

All that aside, I have definitely noticed a difference in my feet! They are so much softer, and have far less dead skin. I can see myself getting fish pedicures more often!

Review: A few Drugstore Brushes

So I was in Super drug t'other day and picked up a few brushes on a whim so I thought I'd let you know my feelings on them!

First up is the Revlon Contour Shadow Brush, which retails for £3.99 at superdrug.

I think it's fair to say I love this brush. As you can see it's a tapered brush, just perfect to fit into the crease. It makes applying and blending out a colour into the crease an absolute dream, and I for one will be popping out to buy another! Now I've never had any mac brushes so I couldn't say what this is comparable to, but I own a vaguely similar one from No7 and I much prefer this beauty!

This is the QVS "Airbrush" Duo Fibre brush and it retails for £6.99 at Superdrug

Sorry it's a little dirty, I am too ill to stand up for long enough to wash it (Have the flu, possibly leaning into swine flu territory, so I'm confined to bed with a thermometer and a box of drugs waiting it out). Now, I'm not sure I like this. I keep using it hoping it'll grow on me or I'll find a way to make it work but I'm just...blarg. Firstly I'm not sure if you can tell on the picture but it's not very dense, which means applying foundation with it is very difficult, it just sort of flops around and is streaky, so that's a no no for me. However applying my foundation first, with my fingers or my usual foundation brush (ELF powder brush) and then using this to buff it all in is not a total failure, but I wouldn't say it made a great deal of difference.

Essentially if you have your heart set on a cheap duo fibre brush, give this a shot as I've seen people review it saying it was amazing, but I don't think it's for me.

Oh yes. That's nail of the hour. I bought a copious amount of my favourite drink the world today- Diet coke naturally. And so I picked up one of the nails inc polishes that come free with your delicious caffieney death. I got caramel, as I'd been looking for a nice nude polish. And nice it is! Goes on a little streaky with the first coat but perfectly opaque and nice after the second.

And It was good, but then I realised I'm going out tonight (3rd night in a row, I'm trying to get to all 7! This is a stupid idea because I ended up in an ambulance on monday..long story), and nude is no nail colour to be going out in! So I swapped it over to this badboy:

This is Cyan Blue by Barry M and it's badass! In the bottle it just looks

like a slightly darker version of Barry M's aqua, but on the nail it's a seriously bright almost neon (yellowish maybe) blue. It's intense don't you think?

Anyway, the ridiculously gaudy blue wasn't enough, so I jazzed it up a bit

Moving back into my Uni room caused me to break a nail and so I had to redo my mani, and thought I'd do something a little different, but still easy and neutral.

Just Barry M's Mushroom with a matte black. I painted the mushroom colour first, and then in a moment of boredom taped off the lower 3rd of one of my nails and painted the rest black...and I quite liked it, so I ran with it! Sadly the matte gets shiney within a day or two and this looked better matte. Woot.

Here be dragons. No wait. Here be some stuff I have purchased of late! I have been doing a really bad job of not spending money, as I am a fool of the utmost. The thing about buying lots of little things and assuming you're not spending a lot of money 'cause they're cheap is that when you buy a metric fuck tonne of little things..it all adds up doesn't it? Maths was never my strong suit.

Is it just me or does buying books feel like spending is ok, 'cause books are practically education in paper form? No matter the book I shrug it off as being an ok purchase. Charlie Brooker is my god. There is no two ways about it, the man is godly. Funny, Angry and a hell of a lot older than me...it's a recipe for lust right there.

It is sad I mostly got this as the bottle looks a bit like a transformer? It also smells hugely sexy, but really the bottle is something else! Thierry Mugler Alien notes include solar accord, jasmine sambac, green notes, cashmeran, vanilla, and transparent amber. Apparently. I'm terrible at smells, so I'm going to describe it my way, which might be a bit more understandable in the long run. It's a very grown up scent, for me it's not for the day! Musky and warm and jasminey definitely. All in all a Sexy night time smell that reminds me of warm summer evenings etc etc. Ya get me? Seriously though:

Dove Summer Glow! I don't know what possessed me to stick my neck out into the world of gradual tanners but I have a hunch it was when re-watching old lollipop26 videos due to some kind of sick withdrawal symptoms she mentioned it was the best gradual self tanner ever. I really love it. I don't know about you, but I think when you're a bit on the bigger side, it all looks better when a bit tanned? Well I do anyway..my thunder thighs almost look not jiggly when not ghostly pale. Plus I enjoy smelling of biscuits. sue me.

Two lip liners there, the red in Revlon Colour stay lipliner in..red. It's great. Really makes my lipstick last for ages, made the fade even, and not migratey (lipstick wearers you know what I mean). You know the feeling..when it's 11 in the morning and you think "I need glitter" So I decided to crack out the old ebay Lanmei glitters and get my sparkle on. This is what I would have done for new years if I had a life.

And I got this single eye closed image before my camera died..so I'm sorry it was blurry and my eyelash had thought "screw you guys I'm leaving". When it comes to glitter, the blur shows how glittery it is! So I'll pretend that was on purpose!

I love these lashes but they don't stick well no matter what glue I use. I think it's cause the lash band is so big and heavy. Any ideas? They are Eylure party something if you want to obtain the little twits

I'm sure you've all seen the "Perfect Imperfections" tag that's going around on youtube? I hate it. I think it had potential to be this great thing where gurus say what about them they love even though it might not be considered conventionally attractive. I think that would have been uplifting and interesting to watch. Instead it became a big ego thing where people would whine about the most nothingy things like "omg one of my eyes is slightly smaller than the other I HAATTTEEE it" so their subscribers could be all like "omg no ur perrrfect!!!111". Which firstly makes the title of the tag make no sense, and secondly makes the youtube beauty community more of a circle jerk than it normally is.

Today is the 1 year Anniversary of my breaking my leg (well technically tomorrow is as I broke my leg in the wee hours of the morning but for me at the time it was the same day..you get me?). So I wanted to suggest a real Perfect Imperfection:

I love my leg scar (this photo was taken on a day where it swelled up hence the sock elastic imprint). It's one hell of a story, and although the scar hasn't directly "made me who I am" the incident behind it certainly has.

Oh, so I'm getting Reading withdrawls. I wanna go back to Reading so much I did make up inspired by my favourite club! The purple turtle is this little bar/club type thing that I love to go to but my friends don't as it's a bit..."alternative" Yeah whatever. It's such a kick in the non existent balls when you think you've tided your nails up to a presentable level and take photos to post about later and then when you go to post em you realise they were a god awful mess and you've changed your nails since then so can't rephotograph. Anyone know these feeling? No? Just me? Fuck you then.

It's the angle...At the time from straight above they looked tidy, but from this angle they look like I did em with my eyes closed. ANYWHO.

This is Urban Decay Bruise, which is not dissimilar to Accessorize Aztec, which in turn is not dissimilar to mac Mean and Green, which itself if not dissimilar to Orly Space cadet. Woof, that was a long Dupe List. Actually Bruise is the most different from them all as it does not have a gold shimmer at all, it's all about the purple/green two tone.

Now- you might note this is matte, thanks to No7's matte top coat. I really enjoy mattifying high shimmer or glitter polishes, it just tickles me somewhat! Don't judge. This looks particularly amazing matte, because it brings the green out more, which I couldn't photograph at all really :( Pssh.

Next I will be mattifying something else mad glittery..maybe Chin Glaze Ick-a-Body?

Glossy lips without Gloss?

Everyone has moments where they hate gloss...It's windy and your entire head of hair is stuck to your lips...most of your lipgloss ends up on your glass, or sandwich, or bloke. And it's moments like this we all think "Seriously..fuck gloss. What is the point." So here is my top tip for looking glossy and full and shiny, without gloss!

Eye shadow. Pale, contrasting eye shadow. Exhibit A

Thems there are my naked lips. But look how glossy they look! That is the magic of pearly white eye shadow just dabbed in the centre of your lips. This eye shadow in particular is Innocence from the sleek bad girl palette. And totally Non stick!

Now, what about over lipstick I hear you cry! Exhibit B.

Over a matte lipstick. OK I arsed this one up a bit and put too much of the eye shadow on the top lip, so feel free to ignore that. But I like the effect quite a lot. This is a pale pink eye shadow over a orangey red lippy. And it's shiney, and not sticky, and pretty darn good in my opinion.

Review: Naked Rescue repairing hair treatment

I briefly mentioned this product the other day and now I've run out..It's sort of all I can think about, so I thought I should share my love just so I can stop thinking about it until I can get my hands on it again.

So, they Say:

Naked Rescue uses Argan Oil (packed full of Vitamin E), Meadowfoam and Sunflower extract to nourish and help protect those tresses in distress.

97% Natural Ingredients

Vegetarian and vegan friendly.

The tub is 400ml and costs about £8 from boots, and it blows Tresseme out the water. It lasts a while, and for me at least is definitely worth the price. It smells delicious to me, and it's a smell that lingers, so if you don't like the smell, you might not enjoy smelling like it for the rest of the day- but many a folk has complimented me on the smell!

The consistency is thick as hell, which is great for an intensive conditioner, as you need to leave it on for a while, so this stays on pretty firmly in the shower, even if it gets a bit of accidental spray on it, it sticks all your hair to the back of your head and isn't going anywhere unless you move it!

I feel the effects instantly, as in I can actually get a comb through my hair when this is on my hair, which isn't something I can usually do...ever!

Once dry I can really see a difference in my hair texture- sleeker and far shinier than normal. All in all this conditioner is what I need in my life. I finished it before I came home from Uni and haven't had the opportunity to get any more (I live in a field, far far from a boots) and without it my hair might as well be red straw.

Really quick and easy beehive

So I have a bit of a thing about big hair. I Love it! It really is go big or go home in my mind. And today I was pissing around with hair spray (everyone does this right?) and ended up with a pretty big beehive, which whilst not the tidiest it could be, really quick and easy, so I thought I'd share with you how to make apassable beehive in literally 3 minutes...it'd take a fer more to make it totally smooth and neat, which would be impossible with my hair texture anyway.

Excuse my face (I say that a lot, lol), and bare in mind this was super quick and pissing around..it would look better if done better, ya dig?
To do a simple if not perfect beehive you will need: Kinda dirty hair? That is unwashed for a day or two, or overdosed in hairspray. 3 bobby pins. A fuck tonne of hair spray.

Step 1. if you dont have an insane amount of thick hair, you might want to back comb a load.
Step 2. Scoop up the back portion of your hair, and use two pins in a cross formation to secure it just below your crown. Hair spray the dickens out of it.
Step 3. Hold the front section of your hair up in the air and hairspray it a wee tick, and then mold it into the beehivey shape, hold with your hand whilst you brutal hairspray it all, and then pop one bobby pin facing downwards to hold it all together.
Step 4. If you've hairsprayed enough of it, it should stay put. The key to this is mucho hairspray.

So, if you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll know my hair is a source of constant RAGE. I have long, thick, dry, curly, damaged, dyed hair, and atleast twice a week I look in the mirror and think "....I might as well just shave my head" But recently I've been really happy with my hair, and here is why!

John Frieda Frizz-ease Curl around Shampoo and conditioner. My go to shampoo and conditioner. No matter what else I try, I always go back to these inbetween...makes me wonder why I ever stray.
Naked Rescue repairing hair treatment. Seriously amazing, the fact it's something like 97% all natural is great as curly hair tends to not enjoy being made even drier by chemicals, but even if it was made of pure chemical death, I'd use it! It leaves my hair so soft, so shiney (I never have shiney hair!) smelling great, and just generally yum. This puts both the frizz ease and the tresseme intensive conditioners to shame.
Redken extreme anti-snap, I reviewed this before, so go check that out. Still using it and intending on repurchasing if it ever runs out. Love.
Pantene Perfect curls bouncy hold hairspray. I don't know how I lived before I bought this! I have the sort of curly hair that looks great for about 2 hours, and then it turns into an afro, but with this hairspray my curls stay curly even if I'm out and dancing and sweating and wasted. woot.
Angel fish high gloss serum. I have reviewed this before. Calms fly aways, adds shine and smells like pina colada, whats not to love?

You Tart!

I mentioned a long time ago that I really wanted to get a tart warmer for my room at Uni, and I finally did! As I'm sure you know, candles aren't allowed in Halls, as students can't be trusted with fire, and this distresses me as I'm a big candle person. Tbh, I assume my tart warmer will be a fire hazard in the eyes of the powers that be as well and I'll hide it when the room inspections come round but atleast it won't set the alarm off.

So I got a tart warmer on ebay, its nothing special so I won't show it, but my first tarts were the only ones avialable to me without ordering online, Yankee Candles!

I am currently trying out the pomegrante cider one. It is delicious. I assumed I would buy these yankee ones, and then experiment with online stores, but then I ran out of money, and decided I'd spend my last £20 I found in my purse, literally the last of my money, on going out and getting pissed, so I did. And it was good. So I haven't tried any online stores wax tarts yet :(

So I was bored today, and I knew if I didn't do anything I might be forced to attend my lecture, so I thought I'd go for a little walk to trick my body into not thinking it was hungry..I'll put the story of why I didn't wish to eaty at the bottom in a section called "I would do anything for Love but I wont do that".

So My walk ended up in town, which was convienient as I needed to pick up the most important part of this haul, batteries so I can photograph it, but also this!

I'm off to see Glaswegian comic kevin bridges tonight! Yay! I love him. And my Glaswegian friend is homesick so I hope hearing the accent will cheer her up.
The second most important thing was from HMV...Ian Dury is my new obsession! I have this thing about bands, where I only discover that I love their music once they're gone or dead. Typical me typical me typical me. Anyway. Ian Dury and the blockheads are immense. And if you're thinking "who the fuck" you'll probably know their song hit me with your rhythm stick? Wonderfull stuff, I suggest checking them out!

Bit of makeup nect! I went into accessorize to see if I couldn't find some of the makeup/nailvarnishes, but it turns out they're sold in super drug not accessorize.

Aztec and Stardom. yum. Aztec is the supposed dupe for MAC mean and green I think. I'll paint my nails with it this arvo and post it.

Accessorize blush in pretty pink (Dupe for MAC moon river) and Rimmel bronzer in medium matte..I currently have light matte which is fine in the day or whatever but for contouring I needed something a bit more....visable on my skin.

Also from accessorize, this pretty birdie thing. Its a necklace...I dunno how to wear it as i don't really like longer necklaces, but we'll see. £12. Bit much, dunno why I thought that was acceptable to be honest.

So, on my not wanting to eat this morning. As you might know, I'm in desperate love with morrissey. I think he is utterly brilliant, and beautiful, and his music is utterly brilliant and beautiful and I want to listen to him talk, or sing, or just stare at him 23/7 (I'm giving him an hour off a day). Anyway, I was watching a lot of his interviews last night, and it reminded me that I really should be vegetarian. I am very passionate about animal rights, and I'm studying zoology precisely for that reason, as I want to go into Conservation. Sadly, the reality of science degrees is there is a fair amount of dissections and experiments with live animals and it does bother me deep down in my mind, but somethings need to be done and I'll defend my degree and what we do in the name of learning to the death. Soz Moz. I'm getting distracted. I wish I could be vegetarian, but I am deeply carnivourous. Humans should be to be honest, and I have enough deficiencies right now I don't need to add iron to the list, but I am going to try to cut meat out my diet slowly. I've started by cutting out red meat, still eating chicken and fish though. So this was a bit of a ramble. the long and short of it is, I went for a walk to get endorphins going to trick my body into thinking I wasnt hungry cos If I went into the eatery I would have not been able to stop myself having a sausage sarnie. Morrissey will eventually make me a vegetarian if I have any sort of will power.

I doubt anyone's interested but I started a new blog :3 It's a place for my to put my personal stuff, and it'll mostly be whining and bitching and swearing about my crap life. It's really not intended to gain any sort of audience or following, it's really so my mates of fb dont have to put up with ym constant fb status's about my life, they'll be on the blog instead! So im a bit sad it cut off Jagger's head, but I couldn't take another 'cause el máquina fotográfica died. Buttt the argyle socks make this outfit I think :D
Jagger top is from tea and cake at topshop, skirt frommmm new look? Socks from god knows where, and the Docs of Doom.
I feel this outfit is a bit...roller derby, I blame the socks over tights! I should so do roller derby, I'm looking chunky enough to kick arse right here.

Review: Toni & Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner

I bought this on a whim, when in need of a conditioner. And I bought it about a week ago (this becomes important later) and I have some serious concerns with it. If it wasn't for all the bad bits, this'd be a holy grail for my hair....ok I'm talking in riddles now! if it weren't shit it'd be great! Let me break it down for you...

Pros
This has made my hair feel amazing! So soft and silky, and my curls have never been so defined without any sort of curl cream..in fact it looks better with this conditioner on its own than with any other lotions and potions thrown in. I adore what it does....but

Cons
This cost £5.29 for 250ml and it only lasted a week.
The pump dispenses the freaking tiniest amount, I need about 15 pumps to cover my hair
It doesn't make your hair feel crazy silky and slippery like other conditioners, so I never know if I've actually covered all my hair or not..which might be why I use so much.
Every time you press the pump and get a dribble of product, it takes a very seconds for the pump to rise back up again to pump it again...I do not want to take a minute to dispense my conditioner thanks.
Did I mention it only lasted a week? One freaking week. Most conditioners last me a lot longer, even though I use a lot of product per wash.

To be honest, I could over look the dodgy pump, and the non slippy feeling if it lasted longer. And I really do think the conditioner in itself is great for my hair..but....I need a bottle of condtioner to last longer than a fucking week (thats 4 washes guys. 4.)

I am in two minds about this honestly...but I am not gonna buy it again..just stare at it longingly.
Sorry for swearing in this post, I am pissed that soemthing so good can be so shite.

Often times I sit back and wonder what my ideal partner would be. Bad ass. Tall. Leather.
Leather you ask? Ok so my ideal partner is a pair of shoes.
I've given it a lot of thought. And no man could possibly make me as happy as my newest pair of shoes!
These are very special shoes. They are something I've wanted a long long time....and here they are!

Seriously?! 14 eyelet black Doc Martens. I swear if I could Id marry them. Actually I might petition the government to make female-shoe marriages legal.
I got these beauties from schuh for £75.99 (20% student discount baby) and I genuinely spend hours just staring at them.
At the moment the leather is still tough so they kinda shred my heels up to hell, but once I've worn them in, you'll be hard pressed to get them off me.

I think they look kind of terrible with jeans though, so I need some fashion advice.

TK max is a bad bad place and NOTD

I had never been to TK max before until my (1st) 2nd year of university, when a friend dragged me there to go look at dresses, and I hated it. I hate the clothes, I hate the layout, I think the whole place is a shambolic chavvy mess. But the beauty section...ohh the beauty section.
My most recent purchase was a nails inc set, down from £25.99ish to £15...And i couldn't hely myself..which is dumb because I wouldn't normally spend £15 on nail polish in one fell swoop...don't know what came over me. Actually I do know what came over me

See that red? It was calling out to me. I needed it, and it needed me. It's the perfect red. It's almost metalic, and almost goldish in tone? Is that possible? It's beautiful. And called Villiers Street. I wish a photo of it as I had it on the other night, but I didn't :( It was sweet though.
The only other one I've tried was Belgravia which is a very odd colour:

I don't know how to describe it, but it's..brown? with purple? and grey? Fuck knows. But it's beautiful in a dirty kinda way. The picture is crap..as it's night time. pfft. It looks more purple and shimmer in real life :/
The glittery purple is Buckingham street, and from what I can see the glitter is super dense, so I look forward to checking out it's opacity..I have high hopes. The blue is Hanover street which looks kinda lovely and mermaidy also.

They had more than one set, but this one appealed to me the most :D Anyone else checked out the gift sets? I'm loving them :D

Urban decay discontinued nail polishes!

No way you guys. So I was in superdrug for er..no reason at all, and I was staring aimlessly at the sleek stand when my eyes travelled....down..and slightly to the left, and guess what I saw? I whole shelf (the bottom one that you can hardly see) under the BeautyUK bit, of Urban decay polishes! For less than £2! So I picked up 2!

This is grafitti and Bruise.
Grafitti is a baby blue pearly type job with a purple shimmer, and Bruise is one of those green/purple two-tone beauties everyones loving atm. It's a steal right?
So go see if they have any at your superdrug! And if not I'll pick a few up next time im there if they still have any and do a wee giveaway :3

My first foray into Nude lips D:

Nude lips have always been a no no for me. Too often on a night out do I see girls with the dreaded "jizz lip"
Ok that more pink than nude but you get the picture right? Right.
I am a self confessed red lippie addict. I never saw why you would want to make your lips elss noticable, when they are a very attractive feature (any time I have ever been complimented by a drunken stranger it's been about how good my lipstick looks). Plus I'm pale and nude lips make me look like a corpse.
And yet...I have always felt like that hatred of the nude lip has excluded me from a large amount of...hoarding. Does that make sense? Like it bothered me that I didn't like it beacuse that meant, realistically, I couldn't buy it. So I thought, mayybe I'll get one, and give it a go!

So I purchased elf's Natural Nymph mineral lipstick, as I was doing an elf order anyway, and I remember the lovely lollipop26 appriciated it, and thats a girl who knows her nude lips!

Packaging is sleek and smart (but not overly sturdy feeling) as has come to be expected from elf's costlier ranges (ie studio and mineral)

So it's a slightly pink nude, and ya know what..I like it! I am a convert to the nude lip! Well this one at any rate! It doesn't make my lips dissapear, it doesn't look like the jizz lip (unless I put a clear gloss over it which makes it look disgusting, promise)

Ok my lips look dry and disgusting this close up, and thats 'cause they are, and it's not the lipsticks fault :P It's the dehydration and beer's fault.
I am very impressed, and whilst I might leave this lipstick as my one and only wander into the world of nude lips, it will not be my last elf mineral lipstick! Which shall I try next, any suggestions?

Realistic Fake Blood Reciepe

As halloween is approaching, fake blood is something you might be interested, and although you can buy a lot of different tpes, it's not always great quality, so I thought I would share some intel with you all! As a Student of Zoology, something I am greatly interested in is Forensic Zoology, and by association, all forensics. In my studies I have chanced upon the reciepe used to create the most realistic artifical blood, the kind the use to train people in blood splatter analysis etc which has all the physical properties of blood.
I don't know if this will be worth anything to anyone, and you could probable find the reciepe online in a second, but here you go just in case

Superfine self-raising flour - 13g
Sodium Chloride - 1g
Glycerol 1ml
Starwberry sugar syrup (Lyles) 1ml
Scarlet food colouring 1ml
Distilled water 183ml

Will give you a very realistic artificial blood! Yay!

I had to share this as something to do esle I'd keep reading my book and once I get passed blood splatter analysis I'm on to some really sodding gory stuff :(

Mac Venomous Villains + NOTD

Heya! Sorry I've been gone for a while, had to get my drink on! But lectures start tomorrow (9am endocrinology lecture baby) so I am getting a modicum of routine back.
So first things first, a nail of the day:

This is NYC Big Money frost with the white konad polish and m78 plate. This was such a whim, I said to someone I met yesterday who liked my nails (they were red with the black crackle on top) that I changed my nails all the time and it'd likely next time they saw me they're be some ridiculous like green zebra print. So er..ta dahhh green zebra + added bonus of green leopard!

Right, I popped into Mac! Yay! Now I'm back in Reading I have easy access to a mac counter in house of frasier, and the woman who served me was really lovely, unlike the drag queen snobby bints in the cambridge one, so I'll be glad to go back all the time! Now My loan hadn't come in yet so I didn't want to spend too much, but I got two of the items from VV, and might pop back to get one or two more, which I will mention later on.

First I had to get this lipstick! I've known I needed it right from the moment I saw it, and this is Toxic tale:

It's the evil queen, and it's a really bright coral, the picture doesn't do it much justice, but it's an almost neon orangey coral, which I think looks great on, and I'll show a lips swatch when I have less chin/mouth area breakouts :( too much vodka is bad for the skin kids.

The other item I got was She who dares eyeshadow duo. Cos it's freaking sweet.
As you can see it's blue and green, quite large, and immensely sparkley! The below swatches are done dry, no base, no nothing, just a quick swipe on the pan, and then onto my hand

Check out those sparkles! Now imagine that was a base, or wet, or with a black base..or pixie epoxy? or all of these things combined! BAM. Very glittery though so if thats not your thing I would be wary, the fallout is a bit much.
I think I will be going back next week to get 1 or 2 other items, namely Violetta lipstick and possible bite of an apple blush, so we'll see!

So hi! Im all moved into my Uni room, and met everyone and life is good! I will be doing posts again soon, but at the moment I refuse to miss out on any potential bonding situations with my new flatmates, and that means I spend the nights out on the tiles and the days in bed groaning and ocasionally drugging myself to see if it helps. Ick-a-body NOTD + how CG topcoat faired

So I ordered the China Glaze Halloween set awakening, and I am in love with it. I ebayed it, and it was pretty cheap (£14), considering these cost like £7 each in Sally's. This is the first one:

I wish there was some sunlight today so I could show how sparkly it is, but you can kinda see from the bottle how orange and glowy it is.
This is with the CG fast forward top coat on, and you can see a teeny bit of tip wear, and thats impressive if you know I put this on 2 days ago, andwhat I did yestersay..I kind of had a "womans moment" which went a bit like:
"Ah cleaning the hob. ah but now the hob looks super clean but the work surfaces aren't. Cleaaaning the work surfaces. Oh but they're not white enough! BLEACH! EVERYTHING MUST BE BLEACHED! Ahh now the walls look grubby! SCRUB THE WALLLLLSSS. MORE BLEACH!"

So my nails faired pretty well don't ya think!

China Glaze fastforward topcoat vs Seche Vite

I recently got my hands on the China glaze fastforward topcoat (part of my awakening set, which is amazing, go get it!) and obviously in my brain a seche vite comparison was going on, so I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on the two products.

Drying
Both are equally fast. I mean, you'd be a moron to market a quick dry topcoat that wasn't quick.

Glossiness
Seche Vite makes your nails look like glass! China glaze is by no means dull, but not a patch on seche vite.

Smell
Seche Vite smells very...nail varnishy. Really strong nail varnishy. China Glaze is a slightly less strong smell, but like nothing I've ever smelt. For a second it smells pepperminty, and then smacks you with the pear-drops nail varnish smell, but I keep thinking there is a minty smell there. But it's not entirely pleasant. Smells don't bother me at all, but if they bother you, don't use either of these without cracking a window.

Viscosity
Seche Vite is super thick, and Im always scared it's goning to move my nail polish around. CG is a lot thinner, which might go towards explaining why its less shiney? Seche vite is so thick it often becomes unusable quite quickly and you have to buy a thinner for it, which costs about the same as the bottle did in the first place.

Tip wear/Shrinkage
Seche Vite really didn't impress me with wear...I mean I'm pretty much used to nail polishes chipping in seconds, regardless of what polish or top coat I wear. And it doesn't bother me because I rarely wear a polish for more than a day or two. The big test for me is bathing/washing up. I found seche vite would always be gone from the tips after a nice hot bath, or a touch of washing up (why I dont know, the hot water? the scrubby loufa thingy?). CG is holding up nicely after a day or normal activities, including a spot of washing up

Availability and cost in the UK
Seche vite I have never seen anywhere expect Urban Outfitters In manchester. So online is the only way for me realistically. I have seen it on ebay for as little as £6.95, but often its more around the 8/9 mark. CG can be found at Sallys, although I don't know the price of the top of my head, and on ebay it retails for around the 9 pound mark.

Conclusion
Personally I think I prefer the CG. I much prefer the consistancy and the wear, and I think I can give up super shiney for those things. Idealy, maybe there is a combination of the two that will give good wear, but be mad shiney. We'll see!

Not only do you shop like its going out of style, but you havent thrown anything away since you were old enough to say "NO WAY! THAT COULD COME IN HANDY ONE DAY". Not to mention reccently you've developed shopping as a way to fill the void in your soul.

So this is where I need your help. How the fuck do you pack? Cos so far I have figured out that putting all my worldly possessions on my floor wasn't the best way to go about it. Please. treat me like a child and tell me where to start? Where would you start?

Black Dog on My shoulder - Black my arse

Feel free to call me a nitpicker here, but this is really bothering me. I love black nail polish, it is my go to when I have short nails, as I feel I can't get away with any other colour. So I get through it a bit, and have tried many many Blacks. I recently picked up a Revlon one, and check out it's name

Promising right?! Balls to it. I have no patience with dark coloured nail polishes that need more than 2 coats. Seriously? So many companies can make a black that is opaque in one coat, so why the hell should I have to do four? If we ignore that niggle, check out what blackest black looks like:

Not a great picture, but you can just about see it..Blue freaking sparkles! If I wanted a dark base with blue sparkles I would have bought one Revlon. In fact I have bought one. When I buy something called bloody Blackest black I want it to be sodding black. Raggge. This picture is also after 2 coats, the shine from the window masks it pretty well, but its pretty translucent still at this stage. Bollocks to it I say.

Felix Felicis EOTD

Felix Felicis is a potion, that is "Liquid Luck". Felix Felicis makes the drinker lucky for a period of time, depending on how much is taken, during which time everything they attempt will be successful. It must be used sparingly, however, because if taken in excess it causes giddiness, recklessness, and dangerous overconfidence. It is highly toxic in large quantities and is also a banned substance in all organised competitions such as Quidditch, along with all other methods of cheating. It is very difficult to make, disastrous to get wrong, and must stew for six months before it is ready to be consumed. This potion has a shining gold appearance, resembling molten gold. When completed, small droplets leap like goldfish above potion's surface when it is inside a cauldron.

When I started this, I had something super structured in mind. Very pointy arabic style with exagerated and elongated inner and outer corner flicks. So I'm not sure what happened, I think if you set out to do something structured Hole and Smashing Pumpkins shouldn't be your soundtrack..you will end up with something grungetacular. But I happen to think this is much more wearable! So very smudgey and messy, appealing to the dark underbelly of Felix Felicis cheating! The gold was obviously the poition, that part was simple, but I couldnt bring myself to just do...gold. So I thought in a nice bit of caludren (the black!) and the fallout served the purpose of the liquid gold potion jumping and spitting. I really like this, at the risk of sounding a bit up myself! A good look for a nice out methinks!

Yay! I just got back from a weekend with my sister in Manchester. Boy was it a messy weekend! Cream soda vodka is my one true love! But despite all the boozing, we did find the time to pop into town, and I picked up a thing or two from Pop Boutique!

I have been looking for some key covers for a while now, mostly because they are cute, but they have a practical value too. Once I move back to halls, i will have an additional 3 keys to have on my keyring, and they tend to all look very similar, so it's hard to figure out which is which when slightly inebriated..so I figured some different keycovers would help...so here we have...Owls!

That orange one is on my house key for demonstration! But they're all different colours and with different facial expressions! Perfect! I also bought a coin purse:

Oh yeah! They love the laughter and they love the living the mooo-ooominnnsssss, believing and sharing and caring and giving the moo-oomiinnnnnnsss. Thanks for that breif musical interlude. The Moomins appear to be having a revival, and I for one am glad! Yay moomins!

But thats all i bought :( I wish i could show you some video clips I took of my sisters new puppy Pippa. She is a 7 month collie who has recently discovered shadows, and spends hours pouncing on the shadow of her own ears. Brilliant. But I apepar to have lost the footage. lame. I also lost my phone, and 2 mac lipsticks, and some jewelery in a bag :/ fail. I hope its just somewhere in my sisters house...eek.

Review: MeMeMe Blush me!

MeMeMe are continuely their blatent copying of Benefit's products, and I for one am not complaining! So I bought this the other day whilst waiting for my train, and I got it in coral as I find corals suit me better than pink, and here it is

Swatch shows how pigmented one quick swipe is, obviously it can be sheered out and blended out when worn. Sorry I have scratches on my hand, only just noticed >.< sisters new puppy.
So it comes with a little brush with a separator, and a mirror in the lid. This makes it very convenient for travel. Providing you don't mind the possibility it will get a bit munched up as its only cardboard, you could just throw it in your bag and go. I have been applying it with the brush it comes with, which i know a lot of people won't, but it's a very soft brush, and its just very handy. I'm not a huge blush person, but I think this might have converted me.
This come in 4 (i think) shades, and cost £6.49. Barginous

Right o, I need some help.
I am off to Manchester onnnn friday I believe, and I decided to take my brogues, as they are my most comfy heels, and Im unsure about the places we'll be going, what sort of lengths I'll be needing to walk etc, so they seemed my best option. But as they are brown, I can't wear my normal black going outy stuff, so I am in a pickle! Luckily I have a blue/grey kilty type skirt that I bought the brogues with it in mind anyway, but it's short, so I need tights advice!
I kinda wanted to wear fishnets, and channel a sort of skinhead type look..fishnets and brogues. But it turns out my only pair of fishnets to survive hadn't survived at all! I must have massacred them at Halloween without noticing! So unless I can buy some fishnets between now and then, I have to go with what I've got i think ripped tights make me look a bit on the fatwhore side of things, which sucks cos I love how it looks on other people) And I figured grey would be best..but then I got distracted by red tights (my fav things in the world, red tights)

Sorry dusty mirror. Cover half the image, then the other half, and tell me which is better! I imagine you'll all say the grey half 'cause Im not sure normal people feel the same way about having red legs as I do.
Or if you think some other colour would look better? Would black look shitty? What about lacy black? Its safe to assume if there is a colour/pattern of tights imaginable, I have it. So give me your best shot.

Help I'm naked!

Naked nails are gross. Well mine are. There are many reasons for this, but what it means is, I hate having anyone see my nails naked. But as I am a nervous peeler, I can often find myself accidently nail-naked, and in a hurry to get out, which is why i need an emergency polish!

An emergency polish has to fit a few criteria

Quick drying
One-coater
Neutral ish and goes with everything
Easy to apply/good formulation
super shiney so no need for topcoat

The wear-time isn't important, as it normally just has to last for a few hours and then I can re-do it when I'm back from wherever I had to go. Up until now I had been using a red by sleek, which dries very fast and is opaque and all, but it's not exactly neutral, and Im not as into red nails as I once was. But I think I've found a new one!
Barry M mushroom! Why have I only just bought this! I've been thinking about it for ages but I only bought it recently and I'm glad I did. It fits the bill excellently. Its neutral, but classy and interesting, really easy to whack one, and ridiculously shiney just on its own. Im tempted to by another one to keep in my bag for those times Im away from home and being a nervous-peeler.

Self disguest is self obsession honey

Warning: this is gonna be a rambling self indulgent one.

I don't know about you, and to be honest if you're a really confident person this post won't resonate with you at all, but the way I feel about myself fluctatutes hugely...largely between "ugh Im suprised people dont recoil in horror upon seeing me" and "ugh, i suppose this is bareable".
I don't know if it's that I have had to completely rebuild myself after coming out of a less than perfect relationship, or it's the medical situation I've been in, but this year so far has really been a journey, and I think I can safely say at this stage- I'm kind of ok with being me.

And at the risk of sounding vapid and vain, painting the outside really does make you feel better inside. Obviously if you're utterly miserable, no amount of facepaint is going to help, but personally, coming to terms with how I look, working out what works for me and what doesn't, and finally being happy with my eyebrows; these things have helped to shrug off what I can unequivocally say was the worst 8/9 months of my life.

Realistically, I'm sure this is a two way street: I feel good beacuse I look good, but a great deal of it must be that I look good beacsue feeling good results in taking better care of yourself.

Now the interesting bit is, essentially, I look the same as I've always looked, bar tiny things. Although tiny things make a big difference (like my afore mentioned eyebrow issue. fuckers are the bane of my existance, but I think I have them sussed now), I think the real difference is perception. It's nice to be able to look in the mirror and think "My curls look great" and not "I look like a poodle, I should shave my head.". Nothing has changed with my hair, I must just be...embracing my inner poodle! Similarly, I looked in the mirror today and saw this:

And instead of thinking "wow you're a fat cow caz" like I would have, and did, a year ago, I find myself thinking about how much I kinda love the shape of my legs, and "holy wonderbra batman!", and taking out a camera and taking a photo! I don't think I've lost weight lately, but I don't hate myself the same way I used to.

I don't know what I'm getting at here to be honest. I don't know whether I am actually looking different/better, whether my perception of me externally is changing because I'm liking me internally more, or simply if I'm just growing out of the teenage "I hate myself" stage. Which ever it is, I'm really pleased! There was a time earlier this year when every morning I woke up feeling utterly distraught at the fact that I hadn't died in my sleep, nowadays I'm waking up, and thinking even with my hair a fuzz ball and my eyeliner smudged down my cheeks that I'm kind of adorable.

So this was a pointless post, but I hope that it resonated with some of you, and that if anyone else feels like shit permanantly (especially post breakup, where you feel you gave the bastard everything and now you're an empty useless shell), you see that there is every chance that in a few months time, you're perception will change! And in the mean time don't be afraid of being a bit vain.

Review: Boots tea Tree and witchhazel nose pore strips

Of late, my nose has become a black head breeding ground. I have no idea why, as my skincare routine hasn't changed at all, but thats life I suppose. So as I cruised boots for various items, I decided to pick up some biore nose strips, but then I saw these ones:

I have never seen a review of them, so I thought I'd give them a try, see if they were any good. They cost £4.99, and claim to "deep clean and tighten pores" and "help remove blackheads"

My initial thought is they aren't cut. Other nose pore strips I've used have a few small incisions that mean they contour to your nose better, these ones don't so they don't fold around the curves of your nose that well.

As to wether they work, I put the pictures under this jump just incase people get grossed out by it...I dunno why they would, I assume most people who read beauty blogs really love the grim-ness of this shit as much as I do

Don't you love seeing that? Little towers of disgustingness ripped out your skin, like a grime-cityscape. Clearly they work, they're pulling something out my skin.

Yes I have a long nose. I tried to crop so it was just my nose but it looked..SO wrong.
There is a slight difference in appearence, click to look closer if you dare, obviously lots was pulled out according to the strip, and I now just have this big gaping pores that need to close up asap before they get filled with gunk again. My nose also feels super smooth and not bumpy.

I really like this, and will not be shelling out the extra few quid for the biore ones anymore.

I was going to do a proper EOTD today but jesus christ am I hungover. I can't even bear to sit up in bed let alone get up and do makeup. So er..sorry!
But I will regale you with a funfilled list of "shit that I want"!

First up is this ring:

It's from this etsy store, and I am going to buy it as soon as I'm in my new living quaters...else it might get here once I'm already gone what with air mail and all. Isn't it gorgeous? I saw a similar ring on Taylor Momsen and I knew I had to have! And it's a bargineous £14 incl shipping atm. Also there is only 1 in stock so unless she re-stocks I probably won't get one..so I hope no one else buys it! And if any of you buy it I'll hate you forever. Kidding, maybe not forever, but for a while.
Oxblood 14 eyelet DMs. Come to mama. I don't know about you but I routiniely ruminate on how none of my shoes would be appropriate for kicking a nark's skull in. Doesn't the very sight of these boots make you feel like the world might not be so shite after all? Not if such wonders can exist in it.

Miss Selfridge Dress. Isn't it just the cutest thing! I clearly have real image problems, from Doc Martens to pretty butterfly dresses!

Mac Impassioned lipstick. Ever since Lollipop26 did a blogpost on it, it's been lodged firmly in my mind. I never used to be able to pull off pink lipsticks, but I think now with my hair darker, they don't look so bad. This is definitly on my "to buy" list

In other news, does anyone have any suggestions for a really good highstreet eyebrow pencil? I might have accidently plucked out a random patch on one of my eyebrows....shh. Don't tell anyway.
Also I'm off to Manchester on Friday to go spend some time with my super big sister, so expect haulage, and ootd, and eotd photos and all sorts. I'm really excited, kareoke, the gay village, afflecks palace..you dont get much better!

Ministry of Magic EOTD

So welcome to the first instalment of my alternative Harry Potter series! I thought that the Houses had been done to death, so I decided to do some alternative Harry Potter looks. These are going to be based on people, places, potions and other.

A description of the Atrium of the Ministry of magic from the 5th book goes something like this "... a very long and splendid hall with a highly polished, dark wood floor. The peacock-blue ceiling was inlaid with gleaming symbols that were continually moving and changing like some enormous heavenly notice board".

So there I was like "blue, brown and gold..thats a fun combination..."

I wanted to do a proper both eyes shot but we had some awful concealer mishap on t'other eye. There I was getting my concealer on when I suddenly noticed I was using boi-oing instead of earse paste and I had the unremitting horror of what shall henceforth be known as cakefest 2010 going on under my eye and it jacked up the rest of my eye. fail.

Products used:
UDPP
NYX jumbo pencil in green as a base.
A bright blue from the Sleek Original palette over the lid, and the greeny blue next to it in the crease (not really noticable in the picture)
Lower lash line is some random brown.
Waterline is eyeko line and shine duo in silver
Gold liner is a gold eyeshadow used with eyeko magic eyeliner
mascara is a rather clumpy display from clinique, my fault as I hadnt washed off the mascara I was wearing before properly.
Little crystal is just from some crafty place.

Other than the concealer incident, I reather like this! I was tempted to make it more blendy and smoked out, and have the brown smoke out really far in the outer corners but I thought that with the Ministry being rather prim, although useless, clear and sharp lines would be better!
Yay! Magic!

Fyrinnae Lip Lustres Swatches

Prepeare yourself for miles of swatches. I got 10 lip lustres in the mail today, and was super excited! The bad part is, my camera was playing up so my swatches are all out of focus, but atleast you can see the colours right?! Plus it took so long to take all the pictures I couldnt be bothered to edit and stuff, so..meh. Ignore my spotty chin and moustache?
These are all 1 coat of each so you can see the opacity, but they can all be built up! Yay!

Fanservice. I dunno who this looks so sheer, it's seriously opaque in one coat. One of my favourite. I love purple lips!

Amplifier. A sort of darker shade of fanservice but with really tiny shimmer particles.

Ryunome - A real turqoisey blue, glittery

Lollipop-pop A slightly orangey pink with bright pink micro shimmer

Acidic cherry. Freaking love this one. Darkish red/brown with oodles of glitter

Shangri-la . Definitly bought this for the name, it's one of my fav motherlovebone songs :D I love this one..its a bright pink with shimmer

Anesthesia, Another blue! This is a truer sky blue, with bright blue shimmer. Smells like mint!

Coated Revenge. My fav of them all. A purple with blue shimmer. yum.

Monochrome. Hello messy swatch. This one is thick and opaque and shiny like PVC. Love.

Candy Decadance. This swatch fails. This really has to be seen to be belived. Its a two tone purple and blue and I want to marry it.

So yeah. Hope these swatches werent too dire. I might re-take them all when I get my hands on a better camera, ie when my dad has bought a new zoom lens so I can take his current one for the camera im stealing of him :3

If you are on the mailing list, check your email for your invite to the "VIP" shopping week before it opens to the great unwashed!
Its the same set up as the other h&m onlines, if you've ever been to them (I frequent the swedish one just to see whats about) with a drop down menu on the left and then scrolling pictures for each section. I like it. What I especially like is if you click an image, it'll show you links to everything the model is wearing, not just the item for the section you're in.

So I bought 2 items, purely for the purposes of telling you about the process not 'cause I have a filthy habit. Honest.
These printed type tops are the kind of thing they never stock at my h&m so I like that I now have a way to get them! Although I kind of hate highstreet shops doing things like that pistols shirt. You just know half the people who buy it will be buying it to look cool, and wouldnt know the pistols if they spat in their face. Whenever I wear band shirts I always have this little mental fantasy that some hot punk guy is gonna come up to me and grill me on whether or not I know jack shit about the band...and then we gets to talking and all is good and right with the world cos I have a hot punky sorta guy. I digress.

The process was easy enough, as I mentioned above, you click the picture and then have to click the item you want from all the tiems shown, so there is one more step involved than most shops, but it's really quick, loading time wise.
I really like that if you want to change the size of colour of something when it's already in your basket, you don't have to delete it and then re-add it, you can just edit the choice, I think that's super cool.
Bad thing: when you go through the checkout it doesn't tell you the shipping costs until after you've paid. Dodgy right. I mean if you go to FAQs and then the delivery section and then delivery costs it tells you all delivery charges are £3.90 no matter what, but you shouldn't have to do that, they should tell you the costs before you have to put your credit card details in.

But yeah. thats what I have to say about ordering from the site. Hope it's of some help to you!

I really liked this look, but it didn't translate to camera :( Imagine it brighter..much brighter, and with fun glittery eyeliner!
So feeling a bit tropical as the weather is really depressing, and I got my mac order in the mail, so wanted to play with some brighter colours! I mugh prefer the pay off of these bright ones than my dark matte ones, which I find kinda hard to work with...which sucks :(

University halls of Residence Series - Bedroom!

Hello and welcome to the penultimate part of my Uni series, the final part just being a show and tell of my Uni room when I move in!
In this part I'm gonne share my experience of a typical halls of residence room, and talk about storage, and things you'll need to know!
Now, I can't believe I never took any pictures of my room, I am suuch a butt trumpet. But they are all the same really. There are two types of room, ones with sinks and ones without (also ensuite rooms, but unless you're disabled, if you have an ensuite, you suck). The problems with sinks in your room is a) they take up space that would otherwise have more storage and b) all the sinks are connected on the same pipe, this means...if some filthy boy down the corridor tends to use his an a urinal when he's too drunk/lazy to go to the bathroom...thats gonna be a pleasant addition to the other smells them eminate from these sinks! Ok so lets ignore sink rooms for a moment. A normal room will have:
Bed
DeskExtension lead, desk lamp, network cable
ChairWardrobe
Shelves
Drawers
Mirror

The bed will come with a delightfully crinkly sheet to protect the matress from unpleasant (or pleasant? if you roll that way) bodily fluids...but you will need to provide all your other bedding. Go for something colourful! The rooms are so plain you'll need all the colour you can get! Mine are all pink..so are my towels. Colour colour colour! I'd suggest getting a parent to buy you new duvets and pillows purely beacsue they come packaged so tightly, (you could never make them that tight ever again) so it saves space in the car!
The desk is likely to be pretty big, with drawers in it. Do what you will with it I suppose! If you have a desktop computer and a printer, that will take up most of your space. Think pretty carefully about whether you'll need a printer or not. Essay subjects, it'll be worth having, but maths? Go without! There university provides printers in the library if you ever need it.
As far as storage for clothes goes, the more you can hang up in your wardrobe the better! I'm not a wardrobe person usually, but there is so little drawer space you'll be wise to hang up as much as possible.
Shelves. What do you put on your shelves? I rememer in first year I had 2 shelves of books, and the top one was my empty diet coke can collection (I drink diet coke like it's going out of style...i can happily drink 2 litres a day..or an hour..shh). If you are a book person like me, it might upset you that there isn't room enough to take your entire collection...so be wise about it! Take what you need, and take books you happily read over and over. I will be taking a few text books, all my discworld books, and my favourites - A Clockwork orange, catcher in the rye, the god delusion, the origin of species etc.
Talking of books, what about DVDs? CDs? They can take a lot of room if you want to take them with you. My friend took all of his and it was so ridiculous. CD's? Burn them all to your computer. DVD's....get a CD wallet! This is mine
I got it from Tesco for a few quid and it holds 48. Although you can technically double up half of them, if you don't find that too risky. Yes I alphabetise my dvds >.> Weirdly this was a very Johnny Depp page it open it on (I own nearly all his works :3)

Other things worth mentioning about student rooms... Firedoors. You're bedroom door will be this huge heavy firedoor, which will close automatically, so if you'r the kind of person who likes open doors and being social, buy a good door stop. Or, and I don't endorse this at all, but do it it's great, break the hinge.
This is the kind of thing you will see, so see if it will come apart. Grab the bottom part, and using the palm of your hand, give the top bar a sharp jab. If its the kind that can come apart, then it will, then you will have a door that can stay open. I don'r suggest you do this. Its a fire hazard or something. But if you do do it, and do 'cause it rocks, make sure you put it together again before you have any room inspections, else you'll be fined.

I also suggest you leave your window open as often as possible. You are a disgusting smelly student, every time you wake up the smell of your sweating pure ethanol all night is foul, and your laundry basket (if you even keep it in a basket) smells almost as bad. Leave your freaking window open. One of the worst things about halls rooms is you can't burn candles or incense to keep things nice smelling 'casuse the fire alarms are crazy sensitive (Don't apply hairspray within a 3 foot radius of the firealarm). This is why I am still searching for a good looking electric tart warmer! Failing that, a reed difuser, or a plug in smelly thing, or just a room spray. Fight the smell!

One of the best things about Uni rooms, although I've never understood why....very few spiders! Might be all the asbestos, but...I can live with dieing young for a lack of spiders! Actually I think it's becasue Unis are in the cities usually. And I guess in cities you don't get spiders the size of your fist coming indoors once the harvest has come in? God I sound like a Hick. I am not arachniphobic, these spiders could fucking beat you in an arm wrestle, there is nothing "irrational" about a fear of those 8 legged fucks.
Now I've been derailed...What was I talking about? Oh right.

I think i've run out of advice >.> If I think of anything..well it's too late now anyway, people will be starting uni from now onwards.

The grey one is from new look about 2 years ago and I adore it. Its too big for me, but it was the only size left and I needed it! So there are a million and one pictures of me on facebook in this dress where you can see it's slipped down to reveal my bra..all of it. I'ma classy bird! And the blue one is from a place called...M butterfly? I think. I've only ever see this shop in Reading and Cambridge, but it might be else where? as those are an odd combination of places. I call it my Gwen Stefani Dress. +5 if you know why :P

Well, my sister really. Growing up she was always an inspiration, she did her own thing and wore crazy stuff, and made me see that it was ok to be a bit different! We're from quite a strict family so it was amazing to grow up with someone who rebelled a lot from what was expected of us. She also taught me to have strong opinions, and to stand up for them no matter what! Now it turns out we have opposite opinions on a lot of things, but thats ok, Every girl should grow up with a sister like Rai! Now it's Music and muscians, as mentioned above (and a million times in this blog) I adore Courtney Love, Shirley Manson etc. Big damn heroes imho.

Today I had to pop to le shops, and pick up some storagey stuff, finally got some durable drawers that are big enough to fit all the makeup, and jewelery that I want to take to university with me, so thats good!However, I also got slightly distracted by some other stuff...first bags!

I've been needing a sort of, going out type bag. Ya know, something small and on a long handle, in a neaturalish colour that'd go with everything. I normally take my normal bag, but I've upgraded to a fucking huge bag that can carry all my uni stuff in as well as my bag stuff, so i need a small going out bag. And this one seemed to fit the bill, £15 from dotty p's. I love the colour, its a taupey purpley grey..think metro chic :P I was gonna go for black but thats so boring, and I find it hard to think of something I could wear that this wouldn't match. Its small, but could fit my phone, keys, camera and..oh...wait...
...my purse is bigger than my bag. Oh dear. I am now officially in the market for a little coin purse type thing that'll fit a few cards and some cash. As if I need to spend any more cash.
And the big bag I bought is...
I love it. My mum told me it was the colour of diarrhea, which was nice, but I still love it. Big enough to fit my uni crap in, but not so big I can climb in and get lost. This is from h&m
Oh and the spending didn't stop there! Whilst I was in h&m I picked up 2 tops, both the same, but in different colours. I'm not the kind of person who buys the same thing in ltos of different colours, but I couldn't help myself here, I wanted the red one, but then I thought the cream one would go with the skirt as demonstrated below so I got them both. £5. bargin.
Ok shitty picture, but if you can see, the shoulder is all lacey!

Lace is very "in" right now, so I thought this was a cute little detail, but not so lacey that its too dressy or too fashionable so that I wouldnt be able to wear it in later seasons. I have the sleeves rolled up, but they are really 3/4 length, which is nice.

And finally! More shoes! I have a sickness!

I wanted black wedges so I had something to wear out....black is the best shoe colour for nights ouy, and wedges are great for cripples who refuse to wear flats! £25 from new look. I spent about 15 minutes trying on 3 different pairs of black wedges, and finally settle on these little bootie type ones..I felt they offered some ankle support, however insubstantial.

So there. Judge my rampant spending. I should be beaten.

I am just a Patsy - EOTD

So, I was hurrying my makeup this morning, I just wanted something neutral and boring to pop down the shops in (expect a haul in a few hours!) but when I finished this..I actually really liked it. I was using stuff that I don't normally use for whatever reason, as I am trying to decide whats worth taking to Reading and what isn't, so I didn't expect it to look ok, and it does, and it also kind of looks like I can blend. I can't.

Oh wow I just noticed I had mascara on my eyelid and what I like to call "eyeliner that got into my eye and has migrated into the inner corner and then been excreted out my eye into a greyish gooey blob" under my eye. Attractive right? right.

This is just 2 no name eyeshadows from a ruby and millie palette, over benefit lemon-aid (I'm testing to see if that has any..no creasing capabilities) with a dodgy slap of sleek dip-it eyeliner and 17 Ultimate length mascara..applied liberally untill I had TARANTULA EYES. that was a mistake, I got distracted.

So yeah. I really like this :3
I have decided to do a hogwarts series..with a twist! It will not just be the four houses..but I might throw them in as well. Watch out, it's gonna be good. Plus I hope to do the penultimate part of my uni series today or tomorrow, if I can get what I need in the shops. It was going to be the final part, but I think I will do my final part in freshers week, with giving you a quick video tour around my new uni room!

Review: The Sanctuary Skin care

So I have been using a few Sanctuary skin care items for a couple of months now so I think I should tell you about my progress with them. When I was looking these up to find the images, they all appeared to be in the "last chance to buy" section, and if that means they're being discontinued I'll cry. Although all of these products still exist in their the lines, and will be basically the same I reckon...also they'll be in store still. Anyway. Here we go!

Firstly, the one I've been using for the longest, The Warming Microbrasion Polish. First off, it's £11.99 for 1ooml, and comes in a screw cap tube as shown above. I have had mine for atleast 2 months now and I have about half left, after using it every 3/4 days. The warming sensation is really nice, but only lasts for a second as soon as you rub it in, so if you like to apply this to your hands, and then onto your face, all the warming gets wasted on your hands. In order to ensure it's my face being warmed, what I do is squeeze little blobs onto my finger and place them on to my cheeks, nose, chin and forehead, and then rub each section in so the heating gets all over my face. The warming is supposed to open your pores, so it's nice to be able to feel the heat all over your face instead of just the first place you slap it down. The exfoliatating particles are fine, but abrasive...although not as fine as the mary kay microabrasion I tried once, and not as abrasive as say, St Ives scrubs. But it really feels like it's doing something. Sidenote, it also tastes kind of nice...well, I don't gag when it accidently gets on my lips. I don't suggest you eat it.
As far as results go, I love it! I always feel refreshed and brighter after I've used it, and it has defintly become a staple of my skincare!

Next up is the Cleansing Facial wash. This is £6 for 200ml, although I have the travel size, which I bought in the middle of july, use twice daily, and I am only just running out. This is a clear-ish gel like cleanser, which doesn't lather a great deal, but feels super silky and almost foamy on your skin. After using this your skin feels like silk! It will get off any reminants of your makeup, but especially for eyemakeup you should take it off with a wipe or eye makeup remover first. This too is something I will be repurchasing, I love it!

Instant hydrating toner, also £6 for 200ml. This I am less than enthusiatic about. I'm not sure if it's just that I don't get toners. What exactly do they do? As all this bad boy did was make my skin feel tight and unpleasant. This might be for you if you are a toner person but for me, it just seems like an extra pointless step.

I love sanctuary stuff, and will definitly be trying more out! All these were bought by myself obviously, (I am not what PR companys are looking for! Too sweary and silly. So you never need worry that my honesty has been bought by freeshit :P ).

Ins and Outs baby!

My mac palette. Ok so my baby only has 3 shadows so far, but I have 5 more in the post hurtling their way to me as we speak. Pretty soon I will have a thouroughly mismatched selection of colours. I was watching peoples videos of their ideas for mac starter kits and best mac eyeshadows and the neautrality was dull as dishwater, so I sacked it off and got bright greens and blues! But when I look at peoples hauls and collections of mac I feel slightly ill...I've spent about £100 on mac this week and am throughly ashamed of myself, how the dickens do people do that weekly?

Harry potter. Recently I felt the urge to re-read all the harry potter books, due to watched A Very Potter Musical, and Sequel so often lately (if you like potter, and musicals, go watch the very potter musical on youtube!). My favourite book is the prisoner of azkaban, which is yours? I'm tempted to do some hogwarts looks, but everyone and their dogs done it, so it might be a touch redundant...maybe I'll do something hogwartsy, but not house colours.

The autumn! It's definitly autumn here in the midlands, some nice mild sunny days with a bit of wind. Perfect. And autumn means it's almost winter, which means it's already christmas season as far as retail goes, which means...Starbucks christmas coffees! Hello gingerbread lattes!

Being able to walk in heels! My lovely pink wedges are gonna be getting some wear this winter! They are summer shoes but...I reckon i can make them work for nights out, as they're nudeish. I reckon they will look great with a grey dress and a wonderbra :D slaaag.

Cheap Storagey stuff. I can't find anything good, but it's all I can think about. Every time I look at the mess my chest of drawers is in

Breaking a nail. I have this one stupid stumpy nail, and I don't want to cut the others down to match as it takes so long for them to grow!

A whole month to wait untill i go back to Uni >.< I want to be in Reading, wonderful ghetto that it is...plus it's super close to Londinium. Although being in Reading = Mac counter = bye bye student loan

I don't have many outs as I'm so freaking happy at the moment. Yay life is not as dire as it usually is!

Baby's First Mac!

Eee, I was in Cambridge today, not for any real reason...Well, I kinda purely went as there is a van in the market that sells awesome satay chicken skewers..and sod's law- they were sold out! Fail. But I did go to a mac! My first time ever, and it was crazy intimidating, but I'm not gonna let no drag queen bitches make me feel small.
So, I bouughttt the Cyndi lauper viva glam lippie! And i adoreee it. I love red lipstick, but I think it's a bit much for day time, plus I'm always scared of it smearing and stuff, but this lipstick is perfect! It's great for day to day wear, and not to pigmented that I'm worried about getting it all over my face..and teeth...and cups.
I also bought a 15 pan palette..which was the intimidating part, I asked about it and the lady gave me a proper "what do you want that for" kind of look. But pfft. And I got 3 eyeshadows to begin with, this palette was a risky move...as now I want to fill it as soon as possible!

So we have Sketch, Plumage and Brulé. I'm so pleased! But I swatched some others on my hand, as ever since I left the shop I've been thinking about Beauty Marked! Its so beautiful...gah I should have bought it. But anyway!
This was my first foray into an actual mac store! woot!

Oh check it! I also bought a tiny hat!

I have a thing for tiny hats. I have a tiny santa hat, a tiny witches hat, and now this little beaut. I love hats, hats always suit me..I think it's due to, as Vince Noir says, my hair practically being a hat. And mini hats are even more attractive to me. Woot tiny hat.

I'm so psyched. And I'm sure you don't care about my life, but ya know...fuck you, you're gonna hear about it now!
I got discharged from the fracture clinic AND my physio. So I am now an almost functioning member of society. I even put on a pair of heels to see if my leg muscles could cope with it, and the hurt a bit so I tried some cute wedges and BAM. Most comfy shoes I've worn in a long time, as they are more arch support than any of my flats. So I'm back baby! Back to high heels and my life feels like it's less horrifying.

SO. What can you look forward to this month? Hopefully not any blogging after beer anymore. I shouldn't do that. Right, coming up we have

- that 30 day tag thingy just to fill up the dead air once I've got my life back :D
- Organisation/Packing for jewllery and makeup for Uni
